Open-source Telegram client for PC<\/h2>\n

Unigram<\/strong>\u00a0is a free\u00a0instant messaging\u00a0software that was developed by\u00a0Unigram Inc. for PC. It is a\u00a0desktop client<\/strong>\u00a0of the popular mobile\u00a0communication\u00a0app,\u00a0Telegram. It was created and\u00a0optimized\u00a0to run well on computers running\u00a0Windows 10\u00a0and integrates with most of the operating system’s built-in features for a seamless experience.<\/p>\n

Unigram serves as an\u00a0open-source alternative<\/strong>\u00a0to the official\u00a0Telegram\u00a0application that anyone can download and use on their PC. The interface is\u00a0almost identical<\/strong>\u00a0to it, with a few added features that users might find handy. It even supports\u00a0multiple accounts<\/strong>\u00a0just like the original.<\/p>\n

How do I use Unigram?<\/h3>\n

If you have used the official Telegram client before, Unigram will feel very familiar to you as its design is nearly identical to it. You have various\u00a0login methods<\/strong>\u00a0available to you: you can use your\u00a0phone number<\/strong>, or alternatively, you can scan the\u00a0QR code<\/strong>\u00a0that will be displayed on your screen\u2014and the Telegram app will be needed for this. It also supports multiple accounts so you add and manage them as you see fit.<\/p>\n

This software is just as\u00a0feature-rich<\/strong>\u00a0as the official client while building upon some of its features. It has\u00a010 emoji sets<\/strong>\u00a0to choose from compared to the original’s four. The built-in video player<\/strong> is quite good, with various playback controls and a full-screen mode. While these features are lacking in the unofficial app, it makes up for it by letting users\u00a0cast videos<\/strong>\u00a0to other devices or open them with any\u00a0third-party media player<\/strong>\u00a0of their choice.<\/p>\n

However, there is one feature that makes this stand out from the official app, and that is its support for\u00a0end-to-end encryption<\/strong>\u00a0for chats, as well as providing the option for setting a\u00a0self-destruct timer<\/strong>\u00a0for messages. Not everything is great news, though. One area where the client still needs work on is its performance, which can be sluggish at times, Another is there’s\u00a0no system tray shortcut<\/strong>\u00a0for quick access and better notification display.<\/p>\n

A decent open-source alternative<\/h3>\n

Overall, Unigram is a\u00a0good open-source alternative<\/strong>\u00a0to the official Telegram desktop client. It looks and functions pretty much the same way as the messaging app while improving upon some key features. Performance is decent enough, but it could be better. Nevertheless, if you like the additional features that it provides, this one is worth a try.<\/p>\n
