Editors’ Review
Download.com Staff Feb 27, 2009 Set quick reminders and alarms, enhance the look of your system tray clock, and synchronize with atomic timeservers with this feature-rich application. Upon installation, 1st Clock resides in the system tray, displaying the current time, including seconds, and the date. View the features by right-clicking; each feature has a clean but crowded interface. The alarm feature provides a wealth of options. You can display a customized message window; set reoccurrences; play alarm sounds, including audio files, CD tracks, and numerous PC speaker melodies; and launch files or programs. The reminders provide the same functionality as the alarms but come with six preset times, which some similar top alarm applications don’t provide. We were impressed with the clock options, which include memory and CPU usage indicators. You also can synchronize your clock from among the provided time servers. To add to its bonanza, the built-in calendar includes a view of the lunar position. The major drawbacks are the inexplicable low volume of the alarm and the nag screen that pops up every time you attempt to close an alarm. Despite those minor irritations, users searching for an advanced PC alarm will be delighted with 1st Clock.
